Our Mission
The Edge Talent Explosion was founded to fill the void of adjudication opportunities in the performing arts community. We believe that every performer should strive to be his or her best, always growing, and seeking opportunities to further their performing arts education. Our mission is to provide a quality, non-political performing experience with adjudication in a safe and supportive environment.
The Categories, Divisions & Adjudication Criteria
Categories:
Musical Theatre, Show Choir, & Vocal Performance (includes solo, ensemble, & choir performances)
- Acts are adjudicated on vocal technique (including tone & projection), movement (if applicable), expression, entertainment value, & overall presentation.
- Additional group awards may be given for outstanding choreography & musical arrangement.
Dance Performance (includes solo & ensemble performances)
- Students are adjudicated on technique, expression, entertainment value, & overall presentation.
- Additional awards may be given for outstanding choreography & performance.
Other Talents
- Students are adjudicated on technical skill, character & expression, movement, entertainment value, & overall performance.
- Additional awards may be given for creativity and originality.
Winners will be decided by a combination of audience response and adjudicators score. Be sure to bring your cheering section so you can maximize your audience score!
Divisions:
- Solo (1 performer)
- Duo (2 performers)
- Group (3 or more performers)
Rules & Regulations
Studio 3 reserves the right to close registration at any time. Studio 3 also reserves the right to refine, expand, and amend all rules and regulations if circumstances demand such action.
Teachers and directors must review the rules and regulations with their participants and chaperones prior to the competition.
Teachers, parents, and directors are directly responsible for their students’ behavior and the appropriateness of selections. Entrants must remain quiet, respectful, and supportive during the performances. No exiting or entering during performances will be permitted.
General Information
Our competition is open to the public, including children and senior citizens. Please use good judgement when using language and dress in the context of the production that may be offensive to the public at large. Each song selection should be family-friendly. Please no profanity, inappropriate lyrics, or content. All costumes must be age appropriate. Any group exhibiting blatantly sexual or offensive language, acting, dancing, or costumes will be disqualified and will be asked to leave the stage before finishing their act.
